About Me!
I am currently studying at Purdue University, planning to graduate in the winter of 2024. I'm pursuing two majors, one in Professional Writing and another in Media and Mass Communication, as well as a minor in Religious Studies.
My academic career has been a tumultuous journey of discovering my niches
and growing my ability to adapt and perform under various circumstances.
Pursuing a liberal arts degree at a STEM-focused school is something that has
challenged me to adapt my skillset and has utterly transformed my
understanding of what it means to be a proficient communicator and writer.
Over the course of my college career I have grown my passions for English into
marketable skills. In this way I have diversified my portfolio and career potential. In this process of diversification, I have been able to narrow down my career goals. At this point my dream is to work in acquisitions for a Christian publishing company, but I have many goals to achieve before that becomes a reality. My journey at Purdue has transformed me from a scatter-brained, anxious girl, to a highly-capable, flexible, and confident, woman. As a result of this refinement, while I plan to work in the Christian publishing industry, my hopes above all are: to help others to tell their stories, to help sustain the industry that gives a voice to those who have been quieted, and to serve others with passion and integrity.
I came to Purdue in the fall of 2020 and after months of searching for an
on-campus community, I joined a Christian women’s ministry on campus
called Delight Ministries. I haven’t looked back since joining and now I get
to serve on the leadership team for that same ministry group. I love sharing
the Gospel with those around me, planning events and providing other
college-aged women with the same feeling of home that I have experienced since joining.
In order to refine my technical skills, I began working for the Purdue University Writing Lab
(creator of the Purdue OWL) as an undergraduate writing consultant, which has been another
large part of my life here on campus. The community that's been created by the staff at the
writing lab has been an absolute inspiration for the kind of corporate community that I want to be a part of as I transition from the academic world to the professional. I know that through empathy, consistent communication, and provision of useful resources, an environment can be created that benefits each party involved. One that unites individuals into a seamless team. This is the kind of community that I am searching for as I make my plans for my post-graduate career.
